The Folded Napkin

If you've ever watched the story of Helen Keller, you might remember this scene.  Her teacher removes everyone from the dining room when Helen refuses to use table manners.  After struggling and fighting, they emerge from the room and the teacher declares "the room is a mess, but the napkin is folded."

To me, this is the perfect metaphor for life.  We may not be able to control everything as much as we'd like, but if we can focus on just one thing and let the rest go, peace will follow.  The decision on what that one thing may be, may not be ours, but finding it can be a triumph in itself!
